Our Process
Effective pest control is methodical, not rushed. Here's exactly how a Hartsfield Pest Control service works — from the first call to the final follow-up.
From First Call to Final Follow-Up
First Contact
You call us at (850) 780-1554 or submit a contact form on our website. We'll ask a few basic questions about the pest issue — what you're seeing, where you're seeing it, and how long it's been going on. Based on that information, we'll schedule an inspection and service appointment at a time that works for you.
Property Inspection
A Hartsfield Pest Control technician arrives at your property and conducts a thorough inspection before any treatment begins. We're looking at interior spaces, the exterior perimeter, entry points, structural vulnerabilities, standing water, landscaping conditions, and any evidence of active pest activity. This step is critical — treating without inspecting first is guesswork.
Assessment & Recommendation
After the inspection, the technician walks you through the findings. You'll get a plain-language explanation of what pest species are involved, how they're getting in or thriving, and what treatment options are available. We provide a clear quote before any work begins. You decide whether to proceed — no pressure, no surprises.
Treatment
Treatment methods depend on the pest, the severity of the infestation, and the type of property. We use a combination of residual liquid treatments, baiting systems, dusts, exclusion materials, and mechanical control depending on what the situation calls for. All products are applied according to label directions and applicable regulations.
Follow-Up
Most infestations don't disappear overnight. We schedule follow-up visits as needed to confirm the treatment is working, check bait stations or traps, and make any necessary adjustments. We stay on the job until the problem is handled, and we'll let you know if additional treatments or services are warranted.
Methods & Products We Use
We don't use a one-size-fits-all approach. The right method depends on the pest species, the location, and the severity of the infestation. Below are the primary treatment methods in our toolkit.
Residual Liquid Treatments
Applied to baseboards, cracks, crevices, and exterior perimeters. These products remain active for weeks and kill pests that come into contact with treated surfaces after the application.
Baiting Systems
Used primarily for ants, cockroaches, and termites. Bait is placed in or near harborage areas, where pests carry it back to the colony. Highly effective for complete colony elimination over time.
Exclusion & Mechanical Control
Sealing entry points, installing door sweeps, screening vents, and using traps. Physical exclusion is a permanent solution to rodent and wildlife problems that chemical treatments alone can't fully address.
Dust Applications
Applied into wall voids, attic spaces, and electrical outlet areas for pests like cockroaches and certain species of ants. Long-lasting and effective in areas that liquids can't easily reach.
What Pest Control Can — and Cannot — Do
We believe in being straight with our customers. Pest control is effective, but it has limits — and anyone who tells you otherwise isn't being honest.
What treatment can do: Eliminate existing populations, significantly reduce pest activity, establish chemical barriers that deter future entry, and address conditions that are contributing to the problem.
What treatment cannot do: Pest control cannot guarantee that pests will never return. Florida's climate, geography, and surrounding environment mean that ongoing pest pressure is a reality for most properties. Long-term prevention requires a combination of treatment, exclusion, and sanitation practices.
Realistic timelines: Some treatments work within 24–48 hours. Others — particularly for termites, roaches, or rodents in a heavily infested structure — may require 2–4 weeks and multiple service visits before the problem is fully resolved. We'll give you an accurate estimate at the time of inspection.
Safety for People & Pets
All products used by Hartsfield Pest Control are EPA-registered and applied strictly according to label requirements. We'll tell you upfront what precautions are necessary for your specific treatment.
During most interior treatments, we ask that people and pets vacate the treated areas until surfaces are dry — typically 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Bait-only treatments generally require no vacancy period at all.
If any product requires extended re-entry times (uncommon for standard residential treatments), we'll inform you in advance.
We're happy to discuss the specific products being used for your job before treatment begins — just ask.
